The chemical composition is selected by the manufacturer to develop the required mechanical properties.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"SectionLevel2\">\n<p class=\"subsec1\">1.3&nbsp;Hot-wrought special quality carbon steel bars subject to mechanical property requirements are hot wrought in straight lengths only. Sections and sizes available are covered in Specification A29\/A29M.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"SectionLevel2\">\n<p class=\"subsec1\">1.4&nbsp;Some applications may require one or more of the available designations shown under Supplementary Requirements.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align:left\">\n  <span class=\"note\" style=\"font-variant:small-caps\">Note 1<\/span>\u2014<span class=\"note\">Merchant-quality hot-wrought carbon steel bars subject to mechanical property requirements are covered in Specification A663\/A663M.<\/span>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"SectionLevel2\">\n<p class=\"subsec1\">1.5&nbsp;The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other.
