This part of ISO 12312<\/span> <\/span> applies to all afocal (plano power) products intended for direct observation of the sun, such as solar eclipse viewing.<\/p>\n

Information on the use of filters for direct observation of the sun is given in Annex A<\/span> and Annex B<\/span>.<\/p>\n

This part of ISO 12312<\/span> <\/span> does not apply to the following:<\/p>\n

  1. \n

    afocal (plano power) sunglasses and clip-ons for general use intended for protection against solar radiation;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  2. \n

    eyewear for protection against radiation from artificial light sources, such as those used in solaria;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  3. \n

    eye protectors specifically intended for sports (e.g. ski goggles or other types);<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  4. \n

    sunglasses that have been medically prescribed for attenuating solar radiation;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  5. \n
