The overall objective of this effort was to meet<br \/>\nthe worldwide need for a uniform and authoritative publication,<br \/>\nbased on the most accurate information available. This publication<br \/>\nserves as a basis for standardized calculations of measured<br \/>\nquantities of petroleum fluids regardless of point of origin,<br \/>\ndestination, or units of measure used by custom or statute. To meet<br \/>\nthe objective of worldwide standardized measurement practices, the<br \/>\nAmerican National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the British<br \/>\nStandards Institute (BSI) have also been closely involved<br \/>\nnationally, resulting in the acceptance of the revised tables as an<br \/>\nAmerican National Standard and as a British Standard.
