Cette norme s'applique aux luminaires, communément appelés luminaires crépusculaires ou lampes de sécurité, conçus pour être utilisés dans des emplacements non dangereux et à l'extérieur et raccordés à des dérivations d'au plus 600 V entre conducteurs, conformément au Code canadien de l'électricité – Première partie. La figure 1 montre un luminaire crépusculaire type.

Cette norme énonce des exigences relatives à la performance des luminaires.
1.3
Les sources de lumière de ces luminaires visées par la norme sont les lampes aux halogénures métallisés, au sodium haute pression, au sodium basse pression et à vapeur de mercure.
