Die Anwendung der Richtlinie hilft dabei, die Softwarezuverlässigkeit planbarer und greifbarer zu machen. Sie ist branchenübergreifend anwendbar und für alle Domänen gültig und bezieht sich nicht ausschließlich auf eingebettete Systeme. Generell kann sie auf Systemen angewendet werden, bei denen Software eine Wertschöpfung darstellt. Sie richtet sich grundsätzlich an Ingenieure, insbesondere an Personen, die an der Entwicklung von Software beteiligt sind (z.B. Softwareentwickler, Systemarchitekten, (technische) Projektleiter) aber auch an Gutachter sowie Anwender, Auftraggeber, Nutzer oder Kunden. Die funktionale und IT-Sicherheit wird in dieser Richtlinie nicht berücksichtigt.*www.vdi.de/4011
