This manual addresses the use of Flight Simulation Training Devices (FSTDs) representing aeroplanes (Volume 1) and helicopters (Volume II). The methods, procedures and testing standards contained in this manual are the result of the experience and expertise provided by Civil Aviation Authorities (CAA) and aeroplane and FSTD operators and manufacturers.

Volume 1 provides guidance for the following:

the process and methodology for FSTD qualification; and
the training tasks that can be partly trained or trained to proficiency in a qualified FSTD.
