Description

This Standard specifies the general requirements for standardized bolts, screws, studs and nuts, but is also recommended for these non-standardized fasteners.

It is intended to be used with reference to the related standards on tolerances, mechanical and performance characteristics, geometrical features, surface discontinuities, surface finishes and quality aspects.

NOTE: The International Standard corresponding to this Standard and the symbol of degree of correspondence are as follows:

ISO 8992: 2005 Fasteners-General requirements for bolts, screws, studs and nuts (IDT)

The symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/lEC Guide 21-1.
