This Standard specifies requirements for mains socket-out mounted nightlights for use with electric light source, on supply voltages not exceeding 250 V a.c. 50/60 Hz.

It is to be read in conjunction with those sections of JIS C 8105-1 to which reference is made.

NOTE 1 This Standard does not cover luminaries for surveillance lighting.

NOTE 2 The International Standard corresponding to this Standard and the symbol of degree of correspondence are as follows.

IEC 60598-2-12:2006 Luminaries-Part 2-12: Particular requirements-Mains socket-outlet mounted nightlights (IDT)

The symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/IEC Guide 21.
