This Standard specifies the hot rolled steels and hot extruded sections used for welded structure such as bridges, ships, rolling stock, petroleum storage tanks, containers and other structures with especially high weldability (hereafter referred to as "steel products").

The quality requirements for hot extruded sections are given in Annex JC.

NOTE: The International Standards corresponding to this Standard and the symbol of degree of correspondence are as follows.

ISO 630-1 : 2011 Structural steels – Part 1 : General technical delivery conditions for hot-rolled products

ISO 630-2 : 2011 Structural steels – Part 2 : Technical delivery conditions for structural steels for general purposes

ISO 630-3 : 2012 Structural steels – Part 3 : Technical delivery conditions for fine-grain structural steels (overall evaluation: MOD)

In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standards andJIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/lEC Guide 21-1.
