This Standard specifies the requirements for the spring steels (hereafter referred to as steels) mainly used for the hot formed springs such as laminated springs, coiled springs and torsion bar springs. The steels include round bars, wire rods, wires, flat bars, sheets and strips.
NOTE The International Standard corresponding to this Standard and the symbol of degree of correspondence are as follows.
ISO 683-14 : 2004 Heat-treatable steels, alloy steels and free-cutting steels — Part 14 : Hot-rolled steels for quenched and tempered springs (MOD)
In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/IEC Guide 21-1.
