Introduction
This standard specifies the physical layer for the 136+ bearer
of the GPRS- 136 Packet Data Service. It specifies the slot
structures and frame structures that are used. It specifies sub
channeling on the uplink PDCH. This standard contains the
specification of the paging displacement procedure for the PCCH of
GPRS-136. It also specifies power output, power control, and
modulation to be used for the 136+ bearer.
This physical layer is very similar to the physical layer for
the DTC (see TIA/EIA-136-131 [3]). The frame structures and paging
displacement procedure is very similar to the ones used on DCCH
(see TIA/EIA-136-121 [2]).
To accomplish some tasks (e.g., tune to the correct carrier or
use the correct power output), the physical layer must communicate
with the Radio Resource Management Entity (RRME, see
TIA/EIA-136-335 [6]). This communication is not specified using
formal Service Access Points (SAPs) and service primitives. Instead
it is an implementation-specific function and is shown as a
connection without a SAP in the protocol reference diagrams in the
GPRS-136 overview (see TIA/EIA-136-330 [4]).
