This Standard gives the design guidelines for a holding part of stick holder intended for the temporary accommodation of a stick that assists the walk of older persons and persons with disabilities.

This Standard covers the holding parts having a holding function attained by an elastic deformation; however, does not cover the following holding parts.

a) Stick holder attached to a stick itself, intended for the easy rest of stick

b) Stick holder having a function to install a stick on a rollator or wheelchair, intended for the assist of movement of older persons and persons with disabilities

NOTE This Standard covers the sticks having the diameter of about 16 mm to 25 mm at the thickest part, and assumes that the main purpose of sticks is the assist of walk.

This Standard specifies the assistive products for walking (hereinafter referred to as a rollator) which has two or more wheels at the lower edge of a frame, and which is operated with supporting the body by the both hands and both arms, or top trunk.

In addition, those with the distance between axles of below 250 mm are excluded.

Moreover, the wheel 1)locked if weight is applied is not regarded as a wheel.

Note 1) The wheel locked if weight is applied means the following structure, When the force of 50 N is loaded on a handle, legs other than a wheel are grounded, and the load is supported by not a wheel but a leg, or a wheel is fixed securely.

This Standard specifies the assistive products for walking manupulated by both arms, particularly the walking aids that do not have a wheel (hereafter referred to as "walking frames").

However, this Standard excludes the assistive products for standing and the assistive chairs for walking.

In addition, the wheel 1) that is locked if a weight is applied is not regarded as a wheel.

Note 1) The wheel that is locked if a weight is applied has the following structure.

When the force of 50 N is loaded on a handle, legs other than wheels touch the ground.

As a result, the load is supported by legs, not by wheels.

Alternatively wheels are fixed securely [see 1) of b) in figure 4].
