It covers the intended use and foreseeable misuse.<\/p>\n<p>This document specifies the safety requirements to be met during design, transport, setting up\/installation, assembly, commissioning, operation, maintenance (as described in <span class=\"xref\">Clause 5<\/span>) and decommissioning\/disassembly of the equipment.<\/p>\n<div class=\"non-normative-note\">\n<div class=\"note-label\">\n  NOTE 1\n <\/div>\n<p>Assembly does not include erection because national regulations, e.g., national civil engineering laws and regulations or occupational health and safety regulations have to be considered.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>This document applies to:<\/p>\n<p>Steel converter and its associated equipment (see <span class=\"xref\">Annex B<\/span>, Figure B.1) for the oxygen steelmaking process<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>from charging hot metal\/liquid steel and scrap;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>via oxygen refining and stirring;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>temperature measurement and sampling equipment;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>up to tapping including slag retaining device;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>cooling systems;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>maintenance devices (e.g., relining device, tap hole repair device, device for cleaning the converter mouth);<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>process related interfaces\/interactions (e.g., according to design, controls) to<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>process media,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>primary and secondary gas cleaning plant,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>material feeding systems and ladle alloying systems,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>transfer cars for steel ladle and slag pot, and<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>charging\/tapping equipment, e.g., crane, scrap chute, ladles and slag pots.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This document does not cover safety requirements for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>usage of process media other than oxygen, nitrogen, argon and compressed air;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>primary and secondary gas cleaning plants;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>measuring devices with radioactive sources;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>material feeding systems and ladle alloying systems;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>transfer cars for steel ladle and slag pot;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>charging\/tapping and de-slagging equipment, e.g., crane, scrap chutes, ladles and slag pots;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>auxiliary winches and hoists.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"non-normative-note\">\n<div class=\"note-label\">\n  NOTE 2\n <\/div>\n<p>For variations of converter process where other gases and process media, e.g., hydrocarbons, fuels, steam, etc. are used, additional safety measures have to be considered which are not covered in this safety standard.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"non-normative-note\">\n<div class=\"note-label\">\n  NOTE 3\n <\/div>\n<p>In case of revamping, this document can be used as a guideline for the specific parts to be revamped.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><b>BS EN ISO 23495.
