The torque\/tension relationship in prevailing torque nuts is<br \/>\nalso examined. Examples of bolt self-loosening data are presented<br \/>\ndescribing the effects of pre-loading, bolt clamped length and<br \/>\nshear displacement during the loss of bolt clamping force. Good<br \/>\njoint design which prevents relative movement of the members is<br \/>\nalways the best method to prevent bolt self-loosening.
