1 Scope
1.1 These requirements cover equipment intended to mechanically move (rack) a withdrawable element into or out of the connected position, while allowing the operator to stand a distance from the equipment. Typical withdrawable elements include circuit breakers in metal-clad switchgear or fused contactor assemblies in controlgear.
1.2 The requirements do not cover racking mechanisms that are installed within the switchgear or controlgear assemblies, or auxiliary devices used to signal internal racking mechanisms to operate.
1.3 These requirements cover cord-connected or battery powered portable equipment with a supply voltage rating of 600 V or less.
1.4 These requirements cover equipment intended for use in ordinary locations in accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70.
