This International Standard specifies a conventional method for the determination of the crude fibre content of agricultural food products.

The prepared sample is boiled with dilute sulphuric acid, the residue separated, washed and boiled with dilute sodium hydroxide solution. Residue remaining is separated, washed, dried and loss in mass on incineration determined.
