INTRODUCTION

ESDUpac A9306 is a FORTRAN 77 computer program for the design
and analysis of axial groove hydrodynamic journal bearings. The
program implements the calculation methods of ESDU 84031 entitled
"Calculation methods for steadily loaded axial groove hydrodynamic
journal bearings". The program also implements the calculation
methods of ESDU 85028 entitled "Calculation methods for steadily
loaded axial groove hydrodynamic journal bearings. Superlaminar
operation". Additional data are incorporated from ESDU 86008
entitled "Calculation methods for steadily loaded axial groove
hydrodynamic journal bearings. Low viscosity process fluid
lubrication". In order to use the program effectively, ESDU 84031,
ESDU 85028 and ESDU 86008 must be referred to for the theoretical
limitations of the method and for discussion of practical
considerations.
