The 2021 edition has been renamed to better characterize the various agencies, programs, and organizations accredited under the standards in the manual, including those with a human services focus. In addition, The Joint Commission revised applicability classifications for existing and new standards to align with the human services focus. The 2021 manual also includes the nearly 90 new and revised requirements related to child welfare services and a new “Child Welfare” chapter, which renamed and expanded the previous “Foster Care” chapter.
