The two types of lime sold under this specification shall be designated as follows:<\/p>\n<p id=\"s00003\">1.1.1 <span class=\"italic\"><span class=\"italic\">Type N<\/span><\/span> Normal hydrated lime for finishing purposes, and<\/p>\n<p id=\"s00004\">1.1.2 <span class=\"italic\"><span class=\"italic\">Type S<\/span><\/span> Special hydrated lime for finishing purposes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"desc\" id=\"N00001\"><span class=\"smallcap\">Note<\/span> 1Type N, normal finishing hydrated lime, is differentiated from Type S, special finishing hydrated lime, in that no limitation on the amount of unhydrated oxides is specified for Type N hydrate, and the plasticity requirement for Type N hydrate shall be determined after soaking for 16 to 24 h.<\/p>\n<p class=\"desc\" id=\"N00400\"><span class=\"smallcap\">Note<\/span> 2For lime putty, refer to Specification C1489 .<\/p>\n<p id=\"s00201\">1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard.
