This standard is applicable to the interconnection of data
\nterminal equipment (DTE) and data circuit-terminating equipment
\n(DCE) employing serial binary data operation via the 100-series
\ninterchange circuits or data operation over equivalent logical
\ncircuits.<\/p>\n
This standard specifies extensions to the protocol elements,
\nprocedures, and behaviors described in ITU-T V.250. These
\nextensions are based on the "+" command prefix and adhere to the
\nextended command syntax conventions established by ITU-T V.250.<\/p>\n
This standard generalizes the protocol elements, procedures, and
\nbehaviors described in ITU-T V.250, making them applicable to DCE
\nwhich operate over arbitrary data networks.<\/p>\n
This standard defines the commands that the DTE may issue
\nto:<\/p>\n
(1) Interrogate the capabilities of the DCE, including
\ndetermination of what data network types and associated
\nnetwork-specific AT command set extensions are supported by the
\nDCE;<\/p>\n
(2) Select among supported data network types for subsequent DCE
\nprocessing of automatic calling and automatic call answering
\nfunctions; and,<\/p>\n
(3) Select among supported DTE-DCE interface protocols.<\/p>\n
This standard defines the responses the DCE shall issue to those
\ncommands. Where possible, these commands and responses are taken
\nfrom existing TIA standards.<\/p>\n
This standard establishes required mappings between
\nmanufacturer-specific data network services and the DCE protocol
\nelements, procedures, and behaviors referenced in ITU-T V.250 (e.g.
\nring, dial, answer, busy, on-line data state).<\/p>\n
This standard establishes conventions for interworking of
\nnetwork-specific AT command sets in DCE which support multiple data
\nnetwork types.<\/p>\n
This standard establishes a minimal DCE Common AT Command Set
\nconsisting of:<\/p>\n
(1) Those commands defined in ITU-T V.250, and<\/p>\n
(2) Required extensions using the +W command prefix in
\naccordance with ITU-T V.250.<\/p>\n
This standard establishes conventions for uniform extension of
\nits own scope and content through Annexes.<\/p>\n
Annex D defines optional extensions to the protocol elements,
\nprocedures and behaviors defined in the original standard, based on
\n+WS and +WC command prefixes reserved for standardized extensions.
\nThe parameters in Annex D only affect operation of the DCE in
\nTransparent Character Stream mode and in Reliable Transparent
